  • Accommodations

When a family member has been hospitalized or is being treated at OSMH you may need to stay in Orillia. Please ask the volunteers at the Information Desk, in the main lobby of the hospital, about hotels and other forms of accommodation available in the city.

  • Bank Machines

A bank machine is located just inside the main entrance of the hospital. There is a service charge of $1.50 to use the machine.

  • Cashier

The Cashier’s Office is located in the main lobby of the hospital and is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Change Machine

A change machine is located in the main lobby. It exchanges $5, $10, and $20 bills for an equal value of dollar coins.

  • Food (Cafeteria)

Our cafeteria, located on the main floor of the hospital, offers a variety of soups, sandwiches, hot entrees, salads, desserts and fresh-brewed fair trade coffee, as well as a wide variety of juices and cold beverages. The cafeteria is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 am - 3 pm, and closed on weekends.

Dora's Place - Visitors can also purchase snacks, drinks, and Tim Horton's beverages at the gift shop; Dora's Place in the main lobby.  Dora's Place is open weekdays from 6:30 am - 8 pm, and weekends from 8 am - 8 pm.  Please note: Dora's Place is staffed by hospital volunteers and in some circumstances may not be open due to unexpected absences.

  • Hair Care

Hair care can be arranged through your nurse. We have a barber on call that comes in to cut hair, however if you would prefer to go out we can arrange that as well. There are a few salons in the area that we send patients to on a regular basis.

  • Hearing Assistance

If you have difficulty hearing or are deaf, contact your nurse who will make arrangements to help you communicate while at our hospital.

Mail will be delivered daily to patient rooms by one of our hospital volunteers. If mail is delivered to the hospital after a patient has been discharged, our volunteers will re-address it to their home. To make sure of fast delivery, have all mail addressed with:

  • Newspapers

There are newspaper boxes located at the main entrance of the emergency department, and just outside the main entrance of the hospital.
  • Patient Meals

Unless your doctor has ordered a special diet for you, you will be provided with a 'continental breakfast' and a 'light lunch' consisting of soup, sandwich, dessert, and beverages. Dinner is served from a non-selective menu that has been carefully chosen for you. We trust you'll find the meals appetizing, hot and nourishing. Dining room service is provided on the new Community Tower floors: C4, C5 and C6. If you are patient on any of these floors you may choose to eat your meals with other patients in a beautifully appointed dining room where a selective menu is offered for some meals. If you have any questions about what you are eating, or if you would like to see a Dietitian, please contact your nurse. Breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon, and dinner from 4:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

  • Wi-Fi Access

Patients and visitors now have access to wireless internet by connecting to our guest network at OSMH. Our wireless network allows patients and visitors to surf the web, check e-mail and connect with family and friends.

There are four options for wireless internet access at OSMH:

    24 Hours - $9.95
    3 Days - $17.95
    7 Days - $26.95
    30 Days - $45.95

The time period for each plan begins upon initial activation. All prices are subject to tax. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are all accepted as payment options. Payment must be completed and accepted online prior to receiving service.

  • Worship Centre

Our pastoral care chaplains serve those of any faith and those of no faith at all. We offer groups on spirituality for both inpatients and outpatients in mental health. We have a dedicated palliative care chaplain and three other chaplains for particular areas of the hospital. There are weekly ecumenical services held on the complex continuing care ward (fourth floor) for patients and their families every Thursday at 2:00 p.m.

We also have an individual who acts as our Aboriginal Liaison to help advocate our indigenous patients and their families. A healing place or smudge room is in the process of planning and it will be available as sacred space for people of all faiths to be able to pray, smudge or just be still and quiet for a period of time.

The Worship Centre, temporarily located on the Fourth Floor in the Solarium, is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In case of emergency there are on-call chaplains who are available 24/7. You can reach us at ext. 3365.
